Similar to it’s sister course, Glen Dornoch, Heather Glen has been recognized as one of Myrtle Beach’s best public golf courses. In 1987 Golf Digest called Heather Glen America’s #1 New Public Course. Since that time the high profile recognition has continued. In 2002, Heather Glen was awarded 4.5 starts in Golf Digest’s Places to Play reader’s choice poll. In 2009 and 2010 Golf World ranked it in the top 30 of South Carolina’s more than 300 golf courses.
Heather Glen was designed by Willard Byrd and sports 27 distinct, championship golf holes. The course offers amazing views featuring mature oaks and pines, with glistening ponds and streams throughout. Each of the three nine-hole sets are par 36 and the greens sport Tif Dwarf Bermuda grass. According to Heather Glen’s management, the course was crafted by design to pay tribute to Scotland and Ireland and it embraces the links style.
The course begins and ends with an impressive period-style traditional Scottish clubhouse. It’s a great place to unwind after a round at Heather Glen.
