The Long Bay Club is a magnificent Jack Nicklaus "signature course" that is continually ranked among the top courses in the country. A great course is often described as one where the holes become etched in your memory. Long Bay is such a course. This is not a typical Nicklaus design. Deep pot bunkers and vast waste areas add a unique identity and challenge

Myrtle Beach Golf Director's Favorite Holes

  • Hole #13 - Carson Courage

The 13th hole is the best looking hole at Long Bay, a layout that has many memorable holes. Who doesn’t like a hole with an island green? This is a relatively short par 3 at 123 yards from the white tee and 156 yards from the back, but distance is the only thing easy about this hole. The island green is protected front right by a sand bunker that creates a tough second shot but might actually save errant shots from going in the water.

If your tee shot finds the water (as mine did today) there is a drop area located across the water that makes it getting up and down for bogey doable. The green slopes from back to front but it’s not too tricky, therefore a dry tee shot is the most important swing on this hole.

  • Hole #15 - Steven Paul

One of the best risk reward holes in Myrtle Beach resides at Long Bay. The fifteenth hole requires imagination and execution on each shot leading to the green. Looking to the fairway from the tee box, there is a creek that runs diagonally across the fairway, and then runs up the entire right side of the hole. You can try to fly the creek on your drive, which is about a 240 yard carry, and leave yourself about 210 to the green. Or you can lay up off the tee, and then try a 235 yard shot into the green. Either way, you do not want to go right on your second shot as the creek is just off the right side of the green. The green is not too awful difficult, as most shots will funnel to the middle of the green
