Summer Golf in Myrtle Beach
As most
of you know, Myrtle Beach is not all about the golfer. At some times during
the year, it is, but the summer is a different story. Most golfers are in
town with their families and just need a round or two. Other golfers will
make a true golf package to Myrtle Beach. This article will help you, the
golfer, and your family make the most of your summer vacation as far as
golf goes.
Golf in
Myrtle Beach during the summer is a steal at most courses. You can find a deal
on each and every course. But don’t wait too long to book your tee time,
because if it’s nice out, the locals will fill up the tee sheets. There
are 48-hour rates available for several of the courses and here with us at
Myrtle
Beach Golf Directors. Those tee times for those rates must be booked
inside of two days. There is a big plus to the 48-hour rate; you get to watch
the weather. Though it usually rains in the afternoon here in Myrtle Beach,
you never know when a system might pop up one morning. Take these 48-hour rates
into account when booking a tee time.
The next
thing that you should take into account is most of the courses are performing
maintenance at least once during the summer. The courses have to take care
of maintenance this time of year because the grasses are at their strongest.
We, Myrtle Beach Golf Directors, have each courses’ maintenance
schedule and will be able to tell you when courses are doing something to the course.
If you were to call the course, they might be prone to tell you that the course
is in great shape, even though the greens are still a bit bumpy. Bent greens
require a little more maintenance than Bermuda greens, so they may be punched
a couple of times during the summer. Now, once everything heals, the courses
are as lush as they ever will be.
Remember
those 48-hour rates? There are some other discounts that will be available
for you to take advantage of. First, most of you will be here for a week. There
are “midweek” rates available. These rates are good on Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday. Most people would rather play on the weekend, so if
you book a midweek tee time, the course should not be as busy. Second, there
are afternoon or “pm” rates available. The pm rates are for noon
or after on any day of the week. Third, if you need to book three or four rounds,
you can get a “multi-play” discount. These discounts are available
when you play a few courses that are affiliated with each other. They may be
owned by the same company, or just have an agreement together. Be sure to ask
your golf director about these special rates.
Last, but
not least, juniors are welcome at all courses. Most courses have a policy where
juniors can play free so long as there is a paid adult. So, one paid adult
gets one free junior. These courses will vary on the ages of juniors they let
play for free. You will see some courses that will let 14 and under, 15 and
under and even 16 and under, play for free. Some other courses have different
policies that charge a junior $10 to $50 (sometimes it may be a cart fee of
around $25). These types of fees will need to be paid at the respective courses.
We have a list of all of the courses’ junior policies. The adults can
book the tee time through Myrtle Beach Golf Directors and we can take care
of the rest and let the course know that you will have a junior in your party.
Take these
summer golf tips and use them to your advantage when you are visiting Myrtle
Beach. They will save you time and money. Be sure to contact your golf director
and ask any and all questions you may have. We have the 48-hour rates, the
maintenance list, the midweek and pm rates along with a list of junior policies.
Contact your Myrtle Beach Golf Directors for a few rounds this summer, because
we know it’s tough not to play golf when you are in Myrtle Beach, on
vacation!
