Myrtle Beach Airport Information
(October, 15 2007) If you are looking for a Myrtle Beach Golf Package,
you also need to look at how you are going to get here. Some people drive.
Some people fly and then drive. The fact of the matter is, the easiest way
is to fly directly into Myrtle Beach, and then rent a car. That is easier
said than done. Here are a few tips to help you plan your travel arrangements
when visiting Myrtle Beach for a golf package.
Myrtle Beach
has its’ own airport (MYR). Do some research on Myrtle Beach International.
You might be surprised as to what you will find that is departing from close
to your own hometown. It may be a little more expensive to fly into MYR, but
it is the most convenient. Very rarely will you find a direct flight into MYR,
but it doesn’t hurt to look.
Other airports
that golfers may want to know about are, in no particular order, Charleston
SC, Charlotte NC, Raleigh NC, Wilmington NC, and Columbia SC. The closest one
is Wilmington, but you are still looking at about an hour and a half drive
to Myrtle Beach. The most popular of these (other than Myrtle Beach International)
is Charleston, SC. It seems to be a little cheaper, but now you are looking
at no less than a two and a half hour drive to Myrtle Beach. Be sure to take
all of these into account when planning your travel arrangements to Myrtle
Beach. You might save some money, too!

You might notice that indicated above, Atlanta is very prominent with its
service to Myrtle Beach. It is the largest airport in the nation and is
a hub for many of the airlines. Expect a layover! It is almost impossible
to bypass Atlanta, but if you do get around it, good job!
Flying into Myrtle Beach can be frustrating. But when is flying not frustrating?
On that note, some airlines will cancel or change flights right under your
nose. You should be aware of this, at all times. If an airline does change
your flight, and you have already booked a Myrtle Beach golf package, let
us know immediately. I cannot stress how important it is to contact us.
Tee times may be gone, accommodations may have to change, and we need to
find what works for you.
Myrtle Beach City Council is currently working on an airport improvement
plan. Once this is passed (and the monies are given to the city by state
and federal governments) flying into Myrtle Beach will be a breeze. Well,
at least easier.
