Atlanta is home to the largest concentration of avid golfers in the South.
Myrtle Beach is the Golf Capital of the World.
Spirit Airlines, one of the nation’s leading low-cost air carriers, connected the dots and will soon begin connecting Atlanta golfers with America’s most popular golf destination. Spirit announced new daily, non-stop flight service between Atlanta and Myrtle Beach beginning May 1 at a press conference Wednesday morning.
The flights are now available for booking.
Spirit’s flight times are ideal for golfers. The flight will depart Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport at 10:20 a.m. and arrive in Myrtle Beach at 11:40 a.m. Given that Myrtle Beach International Airport is within minutes of 15 courses, golfers will have ample time to get in 18 holes on their day of arrival.
The return flight from Myrtle Beach departs daily at 5 p.m. and arrives back in Atlanta at 6:20, opening up the possibility of playing 36 holes before returning home.
“This is an ideal route for Atlanta golfers who want to come to the area,” Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday Bill Golden said. “Spirit is offering Atlanta golfers low-cost service to Myrtle Beach and the opportunity to play on their day of arrival and departure.”
The Spirit flight is seasonal and will run from May 1 to November 10, 2010.
Home to more than 100 golf courses, including seven of America’s 100 Greatest, according to Golf Digest, Myrtle Beach is the Golf Capital of the World.
