Possum Trot Golf Course is known as the friendliest course in North Myrtle Beach, where the guest always is number one. Noted for its traditional layout and excellent playing conditions twelve months a year. Wide fairways make it an enjoyable experience for the average golfer, but it is a great challenge for the low handicapper as well. Possum Trot also offers a unique practice facility and driving range complete with chipping, pitching and putting greens, practice bunker and golf school.

Myrtle Beach Golf Director's Favorite Holes

  • Hole #7 - Tom Perry

The 7th hole at Possum Trot is named “Pesky”. It is a par 4 that plays only 340 yards from the white tees, but don’t let the lack of distance fool you. This hole is all about the drive. The fairway is a sharp dogleg left that requires a very precise tee-shot. Long hitters can forget the driver, as you will hit it through the fairway into the woods. 3 wood is the correct choice here. Straight ahead off the tee you see 3 huge bunkers on the corner of the dogleg. Your target off the tee is just short of these bunkers, which would leave you a short iron into a good size green. The green slopes dramatically on the left side, so keep your approach shot on the right side of the green. There is a large bunker on the left side front of the green that comes into play a lot, and a bunker back right that doesn’t see much action.

  • Hole #18 - Carson Courage

The par 5 18th hole at Possum Trot is a great way to end your round. Appropriately named "Oh No" because a second shot right or a short approach will find the water and you’re dropping. With a wide fairway, the tee shot is pretty straight forward just try and get it up the hill. At 489 yards from the white tees, if you are a long hitting low handicapper you might have a shot at getting on in two, but for most of us plan on laying up to the left middle part of the fairway. If the pin is up front, be careful you don’t come up short or you will be wet. Now just two putt for par and walk away happy
