Rising up from the depths of an 80-acre lake, this long-awaited course contains all the drama and challenge that are the hallmark of world-famous architect Dan Maples. The lake at Man O' War winds through the course, defining holes and changing from ally to enemy, as its sparkling beauty becomes a punishing hazard. Man O' War features large Bentgrass greens, a practice range and a unique marina clubhouse.

Myrtle Beach Golf Director's Favorite Holes

  • Hole #9 - Carson Courage

The ninth at Man O’ War is a challenging hole, but every time I walk off the green I can’t help thinking “that was a good looking hole”. The challenge starts on the tee box where you get a good look at the water that runs most of the way down the left hand side of the fairway and if you look to the right you’ll also see water, but this is Man O’ War after all so by this point you should be use to it. There are four pine trees straight away that can help you line up your tee shot.

Now, assuming you hit the fairway most of us will still have a long second shot; this par 4 measures 408 yards from the white tees. The green is pretty big so make sure you look at the pin placement and hit it straight to avoid the bunkers left and front right. Although it’s rated as the 7 Handicap, walking away with a par here feels good.

  • Hole #16 - Tom Perry

Once again you cannot escape the water at Man-O-War. The 16th hole is a great short par 4. The hole measures 329 yards from the white tees. Trees line the left side of the fairway and a pond stretches the entire length of the hole on the right. If you slice the ball, you’re probably wet off the tee. There are 2 large bunkers, left and right of the green. The ideal tee-shot is a 3 wood to about the 125 yard mark, then a short iron into the green. If you’re a long hitter, going for the green with your drive is possible, but sneaking by the front bunkers will be very difficult.
