The Fazio course at Barefoot Resort is carved wonderfully through the heart of its home resort and has been ranked #6 among all courses in Myrtle Beach. The course is similar to European courses in that it does not return to the clubhouse after nine holes. It may sound like it is a links course because of this, but it really is a traditional low-country course, most notably with its live oaks, sand, and environmentally protected areas. The Fazio is a very aesthetic course, with the design being both challenging, yet easy on the eyes.

This par 71 layout has a mixture of different grasses that you won’t see too often in the Myrtle Beach area. Tom Fazio used Greg Norman’s GN-1 hybrid for the tees and fairways. The greens are A-1 bent and the rough is Tif-sport Bermuda. As most courses in the area will have 2 or maybe 3 types of grass, you really get a challenge throughout your entire round. The course is a little less than 6,900 yards and has 4 sets of tees so any player of any skill level will be able to enjoy a great day of golf. With this in mind, there is quite a bit of trouble out there for wayward shots, so better players, as well as higher handicappers need to hit the ball straight.

Being a Barefoot Resort course, with such a famed designer, makes the Fazio one of the higher priced courses in Myrtle Beach. It is a little cheaper during the winter and summer months and at its highest during the spring. You can also get a break on the green fee if you play on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. This is a visually stunning, challenging and great golf course. If you want to treat yourself and your friends to one of the best in Myrtle Beach and even all of South Carolina, the Fazio is a good place to start.
